House rules
OurBestie works because strangers are willing to say yes to each other. That only holds while the place feels safe to say yes in. These are the rules that keep it that way. They apply to your profile, your trips, your messages, and how you behave in person with people you met here.
1. Be a real person, as yourself
- Use your own photos and your real first name.
- Do not impersonate anyone, invent a job or a life, or run an account on someone else's behalf.
- One account each. If we remove you, do not come back under a new one.
- You must be 18 or over. No exceptions, and no "nearly".
2. Treat people like you'll meet them tomorrow
- Disagree all you like. Do not insult, demean, or pile on.
- No harassment, threats, stalking, or repeatedly messaging someone who has stopped replying.
- No hate. Nothing that attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. This one has no warning shot.
- "No" is a complete sentence — about a trip, a plan, a drink, or anything else.
3. This is not a dating app
People do meet people, and that is fine. What is not fine is treating the app as a dating pool: unsolicited sexual messages, comments on someone's appearance they did not invite, or joining trips to hit on the group. Nudity and sexually explicit content are not allowed anywhere on OurBestie.
4. Keep trips honest
- Describe a trip as it actually is — the dates, the cost, who is going, what is booked.
- If you say you are coming, come. If you cannot, say so early enough for people to replan.
- Settle what you owe. Money is the fastest way to turn a good group bad.
- Do not create trips you have no intention of running.
5. No selling, no recruiting, no scams
- No advertising, promotions, affiliate links, or multi-level marketing.
- No asking members for money, investment, crypto, or gift cards — for any reason at all.
- No collecting other members' details, scraping profiles, or moving people off the app into a mailing list.
- No recruiting for a cause, a campaign, or a religion.
6. Nothing illegal, nothing dangerous
No drugs, weapons, trafficking, or anything else that breaks the law where you are or where you are going. Nothing that encourages self-harm or endangers anyone. Do not post other people's private information, and do not share screenshots of private conversations outside the group they happened in.
7. Other people's privacy is theirs
Photos from a trip include people who did not necessarily agree to be posted. Ask before you share, take it down when asked, and never post someone's location, accommodation, or contact details.
8. What happens if you break these
Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may remove the content, limit what your account can do, suspend it, or close it permanently. Anything involving safety, hate, or minors goes straight to permanent removal, and we report to law enforcement where someone is at risk.
If you think we got a decision wrong, reply to the email we send you and a person will look at it again.
9. Reporting
Report anything that breaks these rules from within the app, or email safety@ourbestie.app. Reports are confidential — we never tell someone who reported them. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
